Frontier: FPS VR as Virtual Screen is very wise!

I haven't played in years, but am interested in trying again when Odyssey comes out. I used to love flying around being a space trucker in VR when the game first came out. So when I saw a FPS aspect was being added I was excited, but wondered how this would work in VR. Then I saw this in a recent blog post:

Can I play Odyssey in VR?
Odyssey will be compatible with VR and you’ll be able to enjoy the same fully-featured cockpit experience players have enjoyed in Elite Dangerous so far. When leaving the cockpit of your ship or SRV, VR players will see a projected screen on which they can continue their journey without removing their helmets…

This is a great idea! I get pretty sick in VR games which have the slidey FPS movement, and obviously teleportation won't work. Having a virtual screen pop up will avoid all the VR sickness issues that I would have!

I feel like some people may hate on this choice, but I think it's extremely wise. VR sickness is a real issues for a lot of VR users, like myself. Solving the VR sickness issue is well beyond the scope of this game and the VR user base is likely relatively small. So, avoiding the issue completely by having a virtual screen pop up is a really solid idea. I'm not used to game companies making brave choices like this as opposed to the usual over-promise/under-deliver approach of other developers!

Ok that's all for my swooning. Looking forward to returning to the ED universe!
