I haven't really been participating in the community, so forgive me if someone's already said this.
In the same update when mention of the 'omphalos rift' was added to the codex, purported to be the artifact that made raxxla so special, the headquarters of Aegis was renamed to Delphi. The omphalos was a religious stone that was in the ancient Greek city of Delphi, which was thought then to be the centre of the world. Delphi was home to the oracle, and in-game in the system Delphi there is a station, owned and operated by Aegis, named 'the oracle' which orbits the system's only landable planet. Wikipedia tells me that in Greek history, the omphalos was in the adyton, "the sacred part of the temple near the oracle"; and upon investigating I found the planet under the oracle to be the home of a thargoid surface site. "the sacred part of the temple" could refer to its inner chamber. I also understand that getting in there and completing a surface site turns you onto other surface sites, including through waveform analysis of the sound that the machinery in the inner chamber produces. It could be that the surface site under the oracle is the beginning of a breadcrumb trail.
The omphalos rift is made out to be some kind of extra-universal transport device, and extra-universal transport is exactly what the thargoids are known for. This isn't the first time the thargoids have come at us, they lost before, hard, and they're still back. And they're at the throats of Aegis, who immediately took the fight to them, even though they were just peaceably scanning us in the beginning. Most thargoid agression has been targeted at them. They're at each other's throats, and I think that maybe they're fighting over something, I think we have something of theirs that they want back. The dark wheel is said to have already found raxxla, and they are thought to control whatever they found there. I believe that Aegis is a puppet organisation of the dark wheel. I think the wheel created their organisation to fight off the thargoids to hold on to what they found on raxxla, and the thargoids are hell bent on taking it back. "The war is escalating with no end in sight" and I think there's a good reason for that.
I'd hold on to this information myself and hope it leads somewhere, but I don't really have the time or effort to see it through. If this gives anyone new weekend plans, then; godspeed lads.
