My interesting and unfortunate Gwent life

First I'd like to say I absolutely love this game it's quality.

Basically I first started this game when Gwent first released when it was still a 3 lane game with melee, range, and long range. I played so much, grinded ranked and pretty much made the perfect Northern Realms deck. I liked all the new cards, events, armour, and new ability/spell cards. I was hyped for Thronebreaker and pre-ordered it. I didn't look at any gameplay so I was surprised to see it had done away with 3 lanes preferring 2. I didn't think too much of it so I just kept going. Unlocking cards that would transfer to my Gwent account, so once I finished I did the big Gwent update with anticipation for all the new cards.

Only to then be met with my whole deck essentially getting hard reset. Everything was redone. I lost all my cards and they were all reworked and had new abilities. I saw I had the currency equivalent of all I had spent on cards which was a silver lining, but having to go through every card again and make a new deck from the ground up was so demoralizing. I understand that this was probably for the best for the game, but for me it just completely demotivated me. I stopped playing all together.

Now after half a decade I decided to replay and platinum The Witcher 3 on my PS5. While I was playing it I saw they added a new "Roach" Gwent card to the game. Naturally I wanted it, so I went through quite the fucking hassle of connecting my PSN account to GOG.com. For reference I live in South Africa. Once I sorted that out I had to play 5 to 10 games of Gwent then I would be given the card. Sadly Gwent was discontinued on console, so now I literally got reset and lost all my account stats. But since I had "nothing" other than a boat load of currency I didn't mind too much.

I started playing on this new account and got so engrossed again. I found I had spent almost 5 hours playing Gwent on the day. I've been playing for 2 weeks now and I just leveled up to Rank 10. My Northern Realms deck is top quality aside from 1 or 2 cards I'd like to add. I've got a Knight and Crinfred Reavers combination that goes crazy. I'm seeing all of the content, cards, an entire new fuckin faction being the Syndicate added to the game. So the game has just been blowing me away with all this new stuff

But now I've learnt CDPR is calling it quits on Gwent and are no longer going to update/support the game. So now I'm left enjoying the game, but now it seems almost empty since it feels like I joined at the literal end of this games lifespan. Overall it's a sound game though and fuck Nilfgaard. If you wanted to just play my entire deck just switch to NR. Thanks for reading if you came this far

TLDR:
Played Gwent when it first released, abandoned when it updated to two lanes and lost all my cards. Recently returned from replaying The Witcher 3 to get the Roach Card. Having fun, but sad now that the game is no longer being supported by CDPR
