How to build a large and tall house in Valheim

So story time: I've just started a new run in a new world after all the updates. Just hit thr Bronze age and I'm currently farming up bronze, tin and hardwood. I built a nice towerbase in the meadows fairly close to the Black forest on both sides (a calculated risk but apparently I suck at math) and mountains and a shore line a bit further away. It's got some elevation in a clearing so it looked like a great spot.

I had two trolls spawn fairly close to my base before but they were unarmed so I didn't have much trouble taking them down. I used them to cut down some tree's and got some early troll hide which was nice. Other then that though I'm focusing on upgrading my axe and pickaxe first so I can farm more efficiently. Sounds good right?

Well… at the end of the day I had the forest event with a Brute, a Shaman and a handful of Graydwarves and Greylings. I have no defenses except for a small palisade around my smithing area, a basic bow, the bronze axe and a wooden tower shield. It took some kiting to separate the Brute and Shaman from the grunts but I managed to take them all down. Tired and wounded I doubled back to my base and just as I got in I felt the ground shake, a troll with a tree trunk came from the other direction!

I thought I was smart and rushed to my bed thinking he would wander off. I managed to sleep somehow but when I woke up he had literally taken down an entire corner of my three story base. He managed to kill me once before I got him into the tree's and I managed to kill him with like 3 arrows left because I had used quite a few against the Graydwarves already.

It was quite a thrill and I'm sure Odin looked on with pride but moral of the story: Don't neglect your defenses and weapons. You might think you're safe but Valheim's got some surprises up it's sleeve 🙂

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
