Reminder that “Johnny” players exist when asking for card reworks.

Yennefer's Journey

"Johnny is the creative gamer to whom Magic is a form of self-expression. Johnny likes to win, but he wants to win with style. It’s very important to Johnny that he win on his own terms. As such, it’s important to Johnny that he’s using his own deck. Playing Magic is an opportunity for Johnny to show off his creativity.
Johnny likes a challenge. Johnny enjoys winning with cards that no one else wants to use. He likes making decks that win in innovative ways. What sets Johnny apart from the other profiles is that Johnny enjoys deckbuilding as much as (or more than) he enjoys playing. Johnny loves the cool interactions of the cards. He loves combo decks. Johnny is happiest when he’s exploring uncharted territory." https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/making-magic/timmy-johnny-and-spike-2013-12-03

There is a lot of discussion on reddit about abusive combos etc and while some of these combos are deserving of nerfs, I just want to highlight that for some players these whacky interactions are a large portion of our enjoyment.

As a Johnny player I have never enjoyed a card game as much as a did in the beta gwent. Beta gwent was both a balance un-iteractive mess as well as a Johnny theme park.

I occasionally come back to homcoming gwent looking for the same feeling as beta gwent and some card combos are still really interesting. But it becomes really disheartening when every time I try homcoming agian, the previous cool combos I used, a good chunck of the time, they are completely reworked out of the game.

I get that un-iteractive gameplay is very polorising and its a bit selfish for me to suggest the game needs to cater to my niche desries. But regardless I just wanted to share my feelings.

I'm not saying broken combos should become top teir decks. I'm happy for them to be meme teir. I just want them to exist in the game.

Thanks for reading.
