Spin us a tale of your firsts!

So, there's a lot of us in here who have been playing since the first day or so of launch. I have 1244.5 freaking hours in this game, and I'm not done yet. I'm still playing my original seed (though I've taken a break from time to time to play on various servers, share worlds with friends, etc.), which just crossed over the 900 day mark not long ago.

What are some of your firsts that you remember? Epic fails? Incredible triumphs? Tell us!

So some of my firsts:

  1. The first time I died: to a freaking tree, the first tree I chopped when I got a stone axe and thought I was all powerful and could stop punching bushes and shrubs for wood. If my seed wasn't so old, that death would still show, right in the middle of my compound, about where my smeltery is. Day 1. I haven't died since around day 724 now, but that first death to the Tree Boss will stick with me for awhile longer.
  2. My first sea serpent. I was on a raft in a storm, not realising that rafts are horrid and should only be used when drunk. I freaking panicked, fell into the water and had to get my nephew to log in and bail me out because I was dead from Sir Chompy. I will say this though: The first serpent head I ever got was his. I went back out (after some coaching from the aforementioned nephew on how to not freak out like an old granny), harpooned him (such tech!! such marvels!) and introduced him to revenge. His head still hangs over my workshop today. I've named him Henry and I'm pretty sure he's still glaring at me in death.
  3. That first Eikthyr kill. Holy HELL that first kill. I hadn't learned yet that you can get a finewood bow without a bronze axe, so I did it with a crude bow, and lordy, that thing is cruel. Bone tower shields weren't in the game yet, and I was too terrified to sword & board him. Well, I only had a flint axe anyway. But died he did and I felt so uber powerful! It was a great feeling, and it was really difficult, so there was a great sense of satisfaction there.

I have lots of stories from this game which shares a strong addiction with World of Warcraft for me (don't judge! At least I hate retail. That's gotta count for something, right?), and even if they never drop Mistlands, there's still plenty of play left in it for me.

Be a bard, spin us a tale of your firsts!
