Greetings Escapers!
Its been a while since you heard from us, and to make sure you know we are all safe and didn't get kidnapped by the Lightkeeper to prevent us from exposing his location as soon as we find it, we are here once again to let you know about what we are up to.
Patch 12.12 was around 6 months ago, and besides a slight delay that was caused by the absence of some important admins and editors in the release week, we are very happy about the information we laid out for you. For many of you it was the first time experiencing a new map release and how we on the Wiki deal with it, and i hope we could prove we got your back. A lot of people supplied us with good input in a quick manner, and therefore we could supply most of the crucial information in the first 24h. We want to thank everyone involved in this and would love to have this good interaction between Wiki and community in the future, too <3
After we dealt with 12.12, we hosted an AMA, which we never did before and we got some very good questions and feedback out of it.
One example from the feedback was, that some of the older, early game content was not up to the standard we have on newer content. We spent a good amount of time updating and polishing this content, for example replacing old maps on quest guides with the fancy new ones we have nowadays, to make the lifes of especially newer players easier.
Whenever we don't have to deal with a new patch, we always look for things to improve, then a Wiki is never "done".
As a little sneak peek for the future, we are currently planning out the creation of interactive maps for all locations, similar to our Customs one. The process for this has become a lot easier due to Fandoms new native interactive map tool. There is no ETA for this besides soonTM, but we will keep you posted.
Speaking about our Wiki host Fandom, its been about a year since the Wiki got the new unified look that originated from the joint forces of Gamepedia and Fandom. Some will remember that there was a big uproar about it, and it was justified in many points. Since its first iteration, many things got changed due to our and other Wiki communities suggestions, and after we as editors got used to the changes that affect us in our work, we can say that we are fine with it. In addition to this, we are still in close contact with Fandom and supply valueable feedback about current problems and planned features. Things that are actively being worked on are still the search, the mobile experience (viewing as well as editing) and Wiki comments/discussions, which we also got asked about before.
For the people that still miss the old Wiki search bar: If you log into the Wiki and look up your preferences, under the "Gadget" tab you can enable a search bar that resembles the Gamepedia one. It is also possible to add the Wiki search as search engine into your browsers search bar if you'd like that. While logged in you can also hide the right sidebar to increase the content space width.
If you have any questions, suggestions or just want to talk to the team, feel free to use this thread or visit us on our Discord server.
