I've been at the point in ED where I get the most enjoyment out of helping new people figure this game out and get their legs under them. But man let me tell you, every now and than I come across some situations that make you want to pull your hair out. I know I'm not the only one who's had to deal with it and I am curious to hear some of your stories.

Here are a few things I've run into helping people.

1. The friend who plays elite. The person I'm helping has a friend who also plays elite and is just a bottomless pit of bad or misinformation.

2. The "ok but how do we short cut this" people. The ones who want everything now but don't want to put in the time to do it.

3. The overly dependent ones. I do my best to guide them along, show them what tools are available to them and how to use them. But, they just won't. Always asking me to find this or that or to jump them across the bubble in my carrier. Or won't touch a res zone if I'm not there to make sure they stay alive.

4. Probably the funniest one, the overconfident ones. I'm all for the new player to get out and spread their wings so they can learn their limits but I can not tell you how many times I've been helping someone and they finally get their conda or fdl and think they are just the hottest most dangerous thing in the galaxy only to quickly find out those AI's in a haz res zone don't explode as quickly as they do when my fully engineered vette shoots them. And their shields pop quicker than a bubble in a thorn bush. I try to offer them a base line and show them the difference between my ship and theirs by letting them just unload on me so they can see how little effect they have on my ship, than doing the same to their ship showing them just how weak they are. This is normally the point where I explain engineering to them and get them started down that quick little journey.

But anyway, does anyone else have any horror stories or funny stories of newbies they have tried to help?
