[Unpopular Opinion] The devaluation of ore and reward points is a disgrace

witcher gwent cards

I will probably be downvoted into the ground here, but I really need to get this off my chest.

With the latest trend of phased releases with expansion kegs being released one month AFTER everything is done and dusted, the value of ore has decreased to a quarter of its previous value. The devaluation of reward points is pretty close too, as ore is the best thing to buy with reward points.

Now to get a card from the new releases, you either need to purchase the whole thing for cash, use scraps, or wait 6 months. Frankly, the whole thing sucks.

I am not one of those beta players with near unlimited resources. I started playing Gwent last year around the time Ciri's journey was ending. I bought Alzur's, Yen's and Triss's journeys, completed them and excitedly hoarded ore for the upcoming expansion. Imagine my disappointment when I realized that the resources I had gathered after spending my time and money were suddenly no longer of any value.

Ever since Price of Power has been released, I have been too bitter to play Gwent anymore. At first I thought that maybe it is a good opportunity to take a six month break from Gwent and focus on other games. However, as this whole thing is bound to repeat itself in a few months – what's the point?

I disagree with folks who say that this is fair because CDPR need to make money. If that is the case, Ore and Reward Points should not have been the main rewards of the paid journeys. This is a bait and switch, plain and simple.

For around 8 months before PoP release, this was my favorite game. I had a lot of fun playing games, watching youtubers play this game and lurking on this sub. For that, I am truly thankful. But, as of now, I'm bitter enough to leave the game forever. This is not a knee jerk reaction as for the last few months I think about this "betrayal" every time I open reddit and see a gwent post. At some level, this post is a goodbye of sorts.

If you stayed with me till now, thanks for reading. Now downvote me into oblivion so I can move on. 🙁
