10 Quick Tips for New Players

  1. Ammo is more important then the gun. If you dump a full mag into a guy and die, chances are you were using garbage ammo.

  2. Offline Mode allows you to learn w/ a hidden stash map pulled up. Locate them, memorize them and use them frequently.

  3. Scavs are your friends on Scav runs, use them to draw other players out. If you don’t have a backpack and they do, then cap’em and take it.

  4. Rush PMC level 5, as this will unlock your Flea Market. Right clicking an item and “filtered search” will show you that items market price. “Linked search” will show you compatible gear and/or a list of ammo for your gun.

  5. You’re never safe. Just because the route you usually take never has a player on it doesn’t mean that’ll be 100% true every time, keep your head on a swivel.

  6. Caps Lock will make you move silently (also mouse wheel), crouch walking can be hard to detect and very useful if you know someones close or you’re in a high traffic area.

  7. Don’t be overly greedy, it’s ok to fill a bag and bounce.

  8. Exit campers can exist, be wary of extractions. Also if you see an extraction that had “????” that means it may or may not be available in that round.

  9. If you have gear on you, it’s already lost… play to have fun and don’t worry about losing gear… it comes and goes in Tarkov.

  10. Do your tasks. They give a lot of exp and free items. Don’t be afraid to buy items from the flea market if there isn’t a “found in raid” requirement. Buy keys for missions, usually they’re cheap.
