I have read about multiple people having regular disconnects due to desync and struggling to find a solution. After asking what their Internet Service Provider is, it is easy to figure out the issue. I want to make a thread for people that google their issue, so that they can find a solution reliably. I already spent a long time troubleshooting until I fixed it, I hope others will have an easier time now.
The biggest ISP in Germany Unitymedia/Vodafone only offers their clients IPv6. Getting an IPv4 address requires a business contract or a premium option. I will get to that in a bit.
I will try to keep my explanations as simple as possible. So excuse if I am not using the right technical words.
UM/VF uses DSLite to enable their clients to access IPv4 addresses from their IPv6 address. (
Tarkov runs on IPv4 only, but you need to receive IPv6 packets. So what your ISP does is translate the data for you before you receive it.
When a user’s device sends an IPv4 packet to an external destination, DS-Lite encapsulates the IPv4 packet in an IPv6 packet for transport into the provider network.
This process can sometimes take a little longer than Tarkov will allow you to. Causing you to desync and ultimately disconnect. You can recognize when that happens by trying to move items in your inventory. It won't work. For your teammates, you will just run in the same place.
If you want more information on it, please google Tarkov DSlite or Tarkov IPv6. This issue has been around for a long time, but it seems to have become more frequent lately.
Now for the solution:
You need to call your provider and explain that you need a native IPv4 address. You won't need to go into detail why, they will know exactly what you need. You can also ask for enabling Dualstack instead of DualStack Lite.
This service might cost you. Vodafone charges 2.99€ for an "Upload Booster" that also comes with a IPv4 Address, but only if you specifically ask for it.
This might apply to other ISPs as well, but I can only speak for VF/UM.
I hope this helped, feel free to ask questions in the comments. I will try to help the best way I can.
TLDR: UM/VF IPv6 only Internet causes desync/DC in Tarkov. Solution: get DualStack/native IPv4 address.
