ReShade filters in Nvidia Freestyle

Hy dudes,

as of now ReShade has been banned. Not you are banned if you use it…the game won't start. We all know that.

TLDR: Copy your filter files to C:Program FilesNVIDIA CorporationAnsel

Important note about why the ReShade ban is better than most people think at the bottom.

So some of you might already know that you can use ReShade filters with Nvidia, for the rest is this PSA made. If you don't know what ReShade is just google it or ignore me. 🙂 Most people use it for image sharpening and recoloring.

It's pretty simple to import the filter into Freestyle. Just copy the respective files into the following folder (create it if is does not exist)

C:Program FilesNVIDIA CorporationAnsel

start the game and Hit ALT + F3.

You get these filter files by installing ReShade into the game directory and copy them from

whereeveryourEFTfolderisEFTreshade-shadersShaders

Note that you will need at least ReShade.fxh and ReShadeUI.fxh – so just might just copy all. But Freestyle will give you a message if anything misses.

If you have a config file for your ReShade filters you can open it with a text-editor and copy the value into the filter configuration from Nvidia.

Afterwards you can just delete the following files if they exist:

• D3D8.DLL
• D3D9.DLL
• D3D10.DLL
• D3D11.DLL
• OPENGL.DLL
• DXGI.DLL
• D3D9.INI
• D3D10.INI
• D3D11.INI
• OPENGL.INI
• DXGI.INI

and the folder

• reshade-shaders

You can also download the official curated filters as described by a help article from Nvidia.

Important note about why the ReShade ban is better than most people think!

As described in the help article linked above there are competitive and none-competitive games.

EFT is categorized as competitive so some filters just won't work.

So rather than hoping that nobody does something evil with ReShade, BSG is going the way every other game goes by letting Nvidia decide which filters should and should not be allowed in a competitive game.

You can now rant about Nvidia giving their community something the AMD community lacks but we are in the same situation as with every other game.
