Blankos Block Party begins.
Andreessen Horowitz-backed Mythical Games has finally launched its first game, a milestone for the upstart gaming company that reached unicorn status late last year after reaching a $1.25 billion valuation, according to a statement.
The 3D multiplayer, which allows users to buy and sell non-fungible token (NFT) avatars, is the first metaverse game to land on the Epic Games Store, the company behind Fortnite. Blankos was previously available on an early access basis to a limited number of users, but Wednesday saw its official worldwide release.
Blankos represents a step forward for web3 games. I wonder if other reputable games like Axie Infinity, Cryptogene as well as new projects like LifeBeyond will orient themselves towards something like this.
The gaming space of the metaverse has yet to be filled with titles offering expansive 3D gaming environments with intricate graphics and gameplay on par with massively popular games like Fortnite, Crossfire and PUBG: Battlegrounds; platforms that boast hundreds of millions of registered users and act as online spaces where people can play together and connect.
