According to his voice lines Aghanim is just a big coward that sends you to do his dirty work for him, while he just waits to become even more powerful. Let me explain.
First and foremost he is just a scared coward who can't hold a candle to his own past (agh_intro_abridged_pt2_01). He has more than enough voice lines where he just wants you to do his dirty work and bets on you although he bets everything on you ( agh_basic_enc_intro_10/13/15/16/21 , agh_boss_succes_04, agh_pb_intro_return_01). He even has a line (wich i can't manage to find) that says "he can cast a spell to wipe all the monsters in all the rooms", but backs down and doesn't do it.
The most notable voices are the agh_basic_enc_intro_16 where he says if he was at the peak of his powers he would be there, really close, but not in the fight, he always does the "heavy lifting" (agh_boss_success_03) even if he says "don't make me do anything" agh_intro_boss_room_06.
He even says he is scared of you during agh_boss_success_05, but he doesnt even lift a finger and just sits back ,encouraging you (agh_fight_encourage_05/22) till the end when he comes sweeping by to "free" the other Aghanims. He acknowledges your braveness and calls you a friend (agh_intro_player_return_follow_up_02/03/09) but would have rather recruited the primal beast (agh_intro_primal_Beast_add_on_03).
Now, the most annoying thing is that he wants to become infinitely more powerful (agh_story_1/2/3/4/5, agh_room_success_exposition_03) and expects you to trust him completely (agh_room_success_exposition_09) but he tells you a story that the other aghanims are going somewhere nice on a "farm" (agh_room_success_exposition_08) and in the final he will not be needing you (agh_room_success_generic_05). In the final he tells you that he kills the Aganims and absorbs their power and their empty husks really go to a farm to be made in some kind of clothing (?) – agh_room_success_exposition_13/15 and agh_oneaghleft_01.
In final he isn't proud of any of his children (agh_room_succes_generic_08), meaning that he isn't even remotely proud (agh_hero_select_start_06) of Rubick.
I would go one step further to say that he is even scared of Rubick due to his power to copy any magic that he sees and that's why he wasn't called neither in his Labyrinth or this challenge.
What do you think? Do you agree with me? Is Aghanim all powerfull or did his "power" vanish when he made the scepter?
Unrelated to this post we might get some kind of Aghanim announcer in game at some point. There are some sounds with his voice (agh_scepter_announce_in_game) altough they mainly refer to his scepter.
