1. It solves the problem they had before. You can now make them only target creatures that are an active threat to your base, instead of also targeting friendly creatures.
2. It doesn't waste ammo on harmless creatures. I don't want them aggravating loxen into attacking my base. Most creatures are not an active threat to a walled base, so making them only attack gjalls, berserkers, seeker soldiers, and maybe drakes is exactly what I'd personally want them to do.
3. I feel like if they were to target every single hostile creature, it would be very easy to make a completely impregnable base. This way, the player will actually have to invest in building a lot of ballistae in order to have an invincible base.
4. We finally have a use for all the useless trophies!
5. They cannot be used to cheese bosses, because you would have to have already killed the boss in order for them to be good for this purpose.

I think this is the perfect solution to all the problems with the ballista, and yet the devs are somehow getting tons of backlash for it?! I honestly astounds me just how negative the responses are to the new patch announcement. Almost every single problem I've seen people complain about on this sub lately has been solved with this update. I can only think of a couple of things that weren't addressed. The new patch is awesome IMO.
