I low key hope the bubble is lost, or at least a large portion of it, and that this war lasts a long time. So many CMDR's want realism out of this game, well realism would be a serious threat that is difficult to destroy, and will take months to defeat (hell, even years). Lose the bubble, get pushed deeper into the galaxy into lesser explored areas just like it could happen if it were real. With war comes advancements. New weapons, new tech, new ships. If we lose the bubble and this is stretched out over a long period of time, that gives fdev time to build new and exciting content for the game to help with the war effort.
Now truth be told, if it lasts too long you'll lose those "right now" players, so it's not for everyone, but I'd say a large majority of players have played for quite some time and would stick around for a long war if there was proper progression and advancements getting released. We all know ED was not meant to be a 100 hour end game type of game.
Lets be honest, the Thargoid invasion has brought some excitement to an otherwise pretty unexciting game. You can only do some much exploration and so many pirate massacre's before it becomes mundane and repetitive with no real purpose. Now players can create goals that make the grind worthwhile.
