I am going to preface this by saying that I am not going to talk about the performance issues, lack of VR and the network issues that happen when trying to play Odyssey multiplayer. What I am going to talk about are the deliberate gameplay design choices that have made me not want to play this game anymore. Issues are in italics and my suggested resolutions are in bold
- Weapon and Suit Mods are Permanent: I truly do not understand this. This "issue" alone has baffled me since day 1 of Odyssey. One of the best things you can do in FPS games is upgrade weapons and try different modifications and see which ones you like more. You also should be able to swap out mods for different situations depending on what you are doing. It takes a considerable amount of effort to Grade 5 a piece of Odyssey equipment and I think you should be able to at a bare minimum delete a mod at the cost of losing the mats for that mod so you can apply a new one, but at best we should be able to store and swap them like ship modules. I am going to suggest the minimum fix for this one: Odyssey Engineers should give you the option to delete specific weapon/suit mods to free up a slot to apply new ones
- Unable to set reasonable sell prices for Fleet Carrier Material Trading: This is issue is what "broke the camels back" for me in terms of not wanting to play anymore. I was really looking forward to making my in-game living from gathering materials and selling them on my Fleet Carrier. I would help out my Squadron by finding the materials they need but also make money in the process. They also hampered the potential player controlled economy with this issue as well. I'm not denying you can still make money doing this, but some of the mats take a lot of time to find and the amount we can sell them for isn't even worth 10% of what they should be. This issue is really about the rare materials and not the commonly found ones. I was also upset but not surprised that we can't use this feature to sell Ship/Horizons materials as well. Let us type in a number for a sale value of materials to sell instead of giving us ridiculously low limits. FDEV isn't supporting consoles anymore so they can assume all players will have a keyboard.
- Can't revive dead team mates when playing as a Team: This is "co-op FPS gameplay 101" and we still don't have this basic feature. We should be able to use a medpack to revive a fallen team mate so they don't have to respawn
- Notoriety made doing Odyssey Missions Un-fun: I was lucky that I upgraded all my Odyssey gear before this change but currently you gain notoriety when doing illegal missions on foot. Does this make sense lore wise? Probably. But does it make sense gameplay wise? Not really, that means you either have to deal with the annoyingness that is notoriety when selecting which missions you want to do, or just not do those missions. The illegal missions are some of the most fun ones you can do. Consider removing notoriety from On-Foot missions
- Unable to Stun NPCs: Kind of a piggyback of the previous point, we should be able to stun NPCs to prevent notoriety gain, or to possibly prevent bounty gain entirely.
Change the Shock mode on the charge tool to stun instead of kill, and possibly add some new equipment that does the same
- Lack of new content: Odyssey has been out for about a year and a half. In that amount of time we have not any new suits, weapons or engineering modifications added to the game. Presumably we will probably get on-foot Thargoids and probably new suits and weapons to kill them with, but we can't get more normal gear as well? I also want to add to this that we haven't had a new ship added to the game in about 4 years. Maybe throw the space game enjoyers a bone with a new ship? I'm not going to post a suggested resolution since its up to FDEV to add new content to the game, but it just seems weird to me that they would release all the on-foot weapons they are ever going to add in all at once at the release.
