I guess I sound pretty noob (I'm not actually, 13000 hours in), but I've never cared much for Thargoids and have also been out of the game for the last few months. So as far as Thargoids go, I am indeed a noob, same goes for the new "Stargoid" structures.
As far as I know, all the Thargoid ships seem to be based on 8-armed structures, but the Stargoid pictures show all 10 arms. So how come they were associated with the Thargoids? Just because they are round and have arms? I also highly doubt that these structures are ships in the usual sense. These "ships" would have to be truly gigantic, several times the size of a giant star, if they are visible to the naked eye at a distance of 50 or 60 LY.
I'm sure I've missed some things that could resolve this contradiction, but what exactly is it? Can anyone help me out?
This is how big a Stargoid actually looks from 0.64 LY:
