I have been splitting my gaming time across a few titles lately (CSGO, Apex, MW, the Cycle, EFT). I play 3-5 nights a week for 2-3 hours each night
Across most of these titles, I find that I can play casually (1 or 2 nights a week) and be warmed up and playing competitively after a few rounds. This means I can play any of these games as the desire arises and feel like I am playing well.
However, concerning trying to play Tarkov after playing other titles for a week…it takes me several nights of playing Tarkov to begin feeling like I have the hang of it again (and those nights are probably full of shitty deaths and mild success) after which I feel like I had crappy gaming nights and wasted my time. Specifically, I find the gameplay mechanics and controls to be the dominant barrier of 're-entry.'
The end result is I just don't reach for Tarkov after I hit lvl 35ish (generally the time when my friends and I start hitting the Tarkov wall). The game sits there for 5 months until the next wipe comes and we all come back to play hardcore hours.
I wish the gameplay was more casually approachable. Perhaps then I would feel compelled to play casually across the entirety of a wipe…
