Changing graphics settings to get a (small) advantage

I’m wondering what people here think about the various postfx dumps that allow people to get a small advantage over others that don’t. Right now a lot of people play night maps in black and white, to see things better.

I’m all for tweaking settings and having things easier for your eyes, but I wish these settings didn’t make such a big impact.

Unfortunately this goes back to way older games like Battlefield 1942 where people would purposely play on the lowest settings so they could see through bushes.

Personally I pass on making my game look shit just to get that small advantage. Now I have the luck to be above average when it comes to pvp so maybe I’m looking at this from a more luxurious view, but I still think graphical changes shouldn’t give any advantage over someone that doesn’t want to make their game look worse. Especially now that videocards are so expensive.

What’s the consensus here? Are you changing your postfx to see more clear? Do you change your settings every time you change from day to night and vice versa? Do you think it’s fine like this?
