Context: Was discussing my idea for player colonies. A system that would allow you to build up and populate systems outside of the bubble, much like the bubble, but would be in the influence of the player squadreon that has claimed/settle it. Basically it would be a slow grind of gather resources and things necessary to get npc to come and populate the system your squad has colonized. Like how you maintain a FC, you'd do the same for a "player squadeon bubble". Instead of just player FCs everywhere, you'd get stations appearing under contruction andf after doing a set of requirments, the station contruction would prgress. Depending on the needs of the growth, having player truckers, miners, traders, and bounty hunters would become necessary for communial sysnergy. As you progress you'd start seeing security force ais with your squad banner/title patrolling the areas your bubble influences… idk. There's a lot to the idea, like how to prevent one group to grow to unstopable size, what stops griefing in that situation, etc etc. But the reason i was thinking about this was that YES it is fun to tavel 45k LY from the bubble and find alien life, geo features, cool systems, etc. BUT why should I care if the data recieved from the unknown is suitable for life or has great views or what not if I'm never most likely going to go back to it unless theres a guardian site there as well? Do I go back for pictures? If I could go back to make my own piece of the milky way with my friends and those that join the cause, I'd feel 1000000000000000000000% more incentitivized to continue putting in ling hours in the cmdr chain. Otherwise it just feels like a noverlty thing after going somewhere cool only to become saddened that you bookmarked something you have no intentions on returning to…
P.S. the discord chat below is me spitballing ways to keep the game fresh and fun while helping combat potential issues that could arrise in a system like what I ranted on.
I'd love for a DEV to read this if only to tell me how optimistic and silly my ideas are in practive.
Text thread about how to solve for a probelm of over population growth of "monoply" groups
idk I think I should get chat gpt to wrtie an essay proposal for me to send tof rontier lmao
[3:17 PM]
but yeah I think that would open the door for more players to get interested in the game
[3:17 PM]
much how platside 2 is growing still
[3:17 PM]
I thought that game was going to crash, burn, and annilate with it's anti matter opposite
[3:18 PM]
but it's surpirsingly doing well enough that I see it on twitch's browse section
[3:18 PM]
wintergaming, the starcraft 2 dude plays it
[3:18 PM]
So a system like that is possible.
[3:19 PM]
the only problem I can forsee would be a need for server wipes
[3:19 PM]
but that could be done by mealstorm attacks every so often
[3:19 PM]
as a population control for those player colonies haha
[3:19 PM]
that way one group could become ultra powerful but only through massive cooperation
[3:20 PM]
otherwise the tharigold will set back your progress every so often
[3:20 PM]
and then you could ally with nearby systems to defend OR take the tharigold invasions as an oppurtunity to plunder and further your power hjaha
[3:20 PM]
seeeeeeeeeeeeee that just soulds TIGHT
[3:21 PM]
instead of being a trucker for trucker sakes, it's becasue system xyz needs tritium and you're the only one in the area to help so the pay is great
[3:22 PM]
or a real pirate syndicate could arise that would cause more alliances to fend against them,m BUT oh no, the 420Smokums paid the pirates are actively helping them! They broke our treaty! Sector McDickyFace needs support!
[3:23 PM]
then when a system is overran, you hire a bounty hunter merc group to clear them out if the squads "armed forces" are lacking
[3:23 PM]
miners would be like freeelancers
[3:23 PM]
explorers as well
[3:23 PM]
shit man
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
