Four gaming sessions since I set out to acquire 2 star boars and I've got barely anything to show for it

• found an island with meadows, explored it and actually found a two star boar.
• built some fences, captured it and a 1 star boar, started taming
• began building a dock for eventual transport.
• went on a huge ocean voyage to find reefbacks
• came back to find all boars slain
• repeatedly exterminated the meadows but only ever found a few 1 stars. Captured, tamed and bred them.
• made a pit stop at home to find my boar pen empty and my boars escaped. Only one to be found.
• built a harpoon, traveled back to the farm on my karve, harpoon doesn't work
• learned you need to enable pvp
• harpoon my boars and pull them into the boat.
• boars jump out of the boat run away and get killed by greydwarves

I guess I'll need a longboat then…

UPDATE: (Partial) Success! I've been able to build a longboat now and transport one of the one star boars to the main base where breeding has already begun!
