Hello. I'm someone who is reluctant to press that purchase button. Even though gameplay that I'm seeing on Twitch is mad tempting, it does not fully convince me to commit. Main reason behind it is that it looks like pointless game, just an infinite paranoia and loot simulator. Keep in mind that I'm no stranger to walking/looting/paranoia simulators, I used to play a bunch of Arma 2(DayZ and Wasteland mods) some years ago as well as somewhat similar gunplay/military sim vise Squad.
All those games have similarities and yet also major differences. DayZ/Wasteland has that MMO feeling that EFT does not, you are located on that one server with bunch of other players, your stash is always going to be on that map vulnerable for other players to claim it. You meeting other players and forming relationship, either hostile or friendly, is also more meaningful since you will be seeing them constantly. Wasteland also had objectives similarly to EFT but instead it was faction vs faction war to claim them. You loot, to use that loot for better loot to overwhelm your opposing faction. In EFT getting all that loot feels like it has no purpose outside of patting yourself on the back.
Squad feels like EFT minus looting process and plus team battles over objectives.
Suggestion:
Since EFT already features factions, how about scheduled faction wars for which you can apply and where you bring best gear you have to fight over some objective that will reap faction vide benefits? Like control over territory, For Honor/Heroes and Generals style?
Is my perception of the game correct? What are your thoughts of mod I mentioned? What are your suggestions of deepening endgame to give your hard-earned gear more meaning?
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
