The current war seems to be steadily expanding, political powers are wasting their time chasing a virtual ghost, and leaders are reaching the end of their terms in office.
Could we be getting ready for a significant blow to the bubble?
We know the Thargoids had war with the Guardians due to them living on planets with Barnacle sites, eventually drawing back into deep space. They have little interest in our planets, and there are debates about their intentions actually being hostility or just a defensive move.
Maybe, just maybe, this current war is their way of telling humanity to stay in their lane. Not to mess with the Thargoids because they are at our doorstep, not the other way round. We don't even know where they even consider home.
Maybe they want to cause so much damage that we can no longer have the luxury of war. That we instead will have to focus on rebuilding the bubble, bringing stations back online and reactivating planetary settlements. They could hit us so hard our bubble will begin to look like Mad Max on a galactic scale, fighting amongst ourselves for resources with entire systems going offline from a lack of resources. Full of scavengers and pirates, cartels and corrupt leaders, all trying to hold on to our remaining resources after wasting so much on weapons.
Maybe they hit us so hard we're back to the early days of expansion. The dark days of hunger and lawlessness.
