Do atmospheric planets add much for an exclusively VR player?

Assuming I just want to explore and drive around on them in the SRV. Do atmospheric planets have variety worth exploring or do they all look mostly the same?

See I'm currently torn on how to feel. I just returned to this game after 2 years and a graphics card upgrade and previously where I really struggled to get a decent framerate, my computer can now handle Horizons at a locked 90 FPS on high settings. Sweet. I'ma dive back in.

So I decide to grab Odyssey… Holy hell is it a mess in comparison. Aliasing everywhere, frame rate fluctuating wildly between 50fps and 70fps… Reprojection… That's not even getting into anything else.

But the only reason I wanted to even try Odyssey is to enjoy driving around on planets with atmospheres. I'm not interested in any on foot stuff. I explored a planet with atmosphere once, it looked great and I had fun, but I'm not willing to endure an objectively worse looking and performing game for that one feature.

Am I missing out on much by just sticking with Horizons and forgetting about planets with atmospheres?
