The vast majority of stations (and outposts/landfalls/etc) are named after real people. Other than people in the KS, most of them fall into three categories:
(1) Prominent mathematicians/physicists/astronomers (and a scattering of other scientists)
(2) Science fiction authors
(3) Astronauts (and other -nauts)
I've always felt this was actually quite cool; it makes sense to name the millions(?) of places in the game after these people.
But there are… omissions. Some of them are glaring omissions. To me, the most glaring omission is Christa McAuliffe. All other crew aboard the disastrous Challenger flight (and also the Columbia disaster) have stations named after them. I'm betting that of the astronauts on those flights, McAuliffe is the only one most people could name.
Other omissions, with glaring ones in italics:
Science/math: Mersenne, Fresnel, Chandrasekhar, Tao, Wiles
SF authors: frankly too many to list. Corey, Chambers, Cherryh, Jemisin, Chabon, Vernon, and of course multiple Hugo/Nebula Winners after the game's release. Though oddly some of those *are* in the game (Leckie, Okorafor).

So… does Frontier have somewhere to submit these sorts of omissions? Surely Christa McAuliffe and James SA Corey deserve more things named after them in the game than Stapled Peacock Flesh.
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
