I’ve been traveling for the past couple weeks, so I haven’t actually had a chance to play since the lag compensation update, which means all I know about it is what I’ve seen people saying on Reddit.
As far as I can understand, it sounds like it grants an advantage to players with higher ping/puts players with low ping at a disadvantage. If that’s true, wouldn’t that mean that this new system would encourage people to play on distant servers, so they’d have higher ping and thus be recipients of the compensation advantage? (Or if I’m misunderstanding how this system works/is intended to work, please also correct me. I keep seeing posts complaining about instant turnrates and what not, but I’m not clear on whether that is a feature or a bug, so to speak.)
To be clear, I don’t want to actually try to play on a distant server for the advantage, if there is one, but I constantly see people on Reddit complaining about people from other regions playing in their server (usually complaining about language differences, not the foreign players having higher ping), and it just seems like the new lag comp system would encourage that.
