I know I'm just one of many people that have been addicted to DotA since its inception but at some point DotA stopped feeling like a game to that was meant to defend towers (Especially T1 towers) and more of farming simulator for your carry or to simply out rat the other team in some metas.
Flagbearers REALLY changed that. Instantly. I feel like there is more emphasis on making sure your hero is around to push the lane and assist on securing not only the ranged creep, but now the flagbearer.. which keeps most heroes in lane to try to push the tower. Of course there are proper rotation times but your lane seems to be a much higher priority now. Esp since Mid had its neutrals removed.
Everyone seemed to want a big update to the map.. but the flagbearers really changed the concept back to what it used to be.. A tower defense game using heroes. For a long time it felt more like a Hero game that happened to push towers.
I really love this update and I am excited to see what pro players are going to do with these changes. Will we see more tri-lanes? New Jungle strats? Rats playing mid? Only time will tell. But I can say the game feels more so back to its roots than ever.
So thank You Valve and all your Devs.
