So a bit north of our base, we have a large mountain area with Drakes and all of that a Mountain should have. However, ever since we started exploring that mountain, we've noticed how Drakes have started to appear deeper and deeper into Meadows territory.
As the meadows forest is quite dense, you're likely to run into these Drakes just meters away from you, because the trees would be in the way. Also, you don't normally look up whilst traversing in the woods and it caught my attention that having flying monsters in other biomes than the open ones (Mountains, Plains) makes travelling so much more interesting. It adds a layer of verticality for Vailheim which I think is only good. The forest help obstruct the view which adds tension and fun challenge for the gameplay. It's like a natural way to add a, in function, a "blindness" mechanic to the game without actually make people blind.
I don't know if it's intended that Drakes stay in the meadows Biome, but I don't mind. I think the way they have slowly traversed into a good 2 minute walk into meadows territory has to do with them aggroing everything they see, so if they see a deer/boar, they'll chase them down even if they end up further away from a Mountain.
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
