I have a love hate relationship with ED. I even stopped playing for a few years since the game felt like work. I'm back and with a different mentality about the game. There are still things that infuriate me, but I can manage it better by enjoying the parts I really like a lot more. With that out of the way…
I see things are not rosy at Frontier. Both D2EA and Obsidian and a few others have posted videos about the issues there and even speculation of a sale. I play on PS4 and Odyssey sure sounds like it's never going to come. I don't want the game to disappear and would like for options to allow commanders to continue playing even if Frontier goes under. As such, I wonder if anyone has thought what would it take for the star forge or some simplified version of it being possible as a offline option. Maybe even with options to set up private servers to play the game. If apps like Space Engine exists, maybe there's a possibility for an offline version of ED. They could sell it and I think it would sell.
What you guys think? Would an offline or private servers version of Elite Dangerous be possible?
