Gareth tweeted today that he won't be casting DPC this year. A month ago Ephey also tweeted that she was looking for DPC work, and considering she is tier 1 caster that has worked two TI's back to back I assumed she would be a priority hire, so her tweeting that seems like she hasn't been contacted (maybe something changed since then)? In the Cap thread it was mentioned that rkryptic is also blacklisted by PGL for presumably stupid reasons. SA DPC also seems to be mess with no real TO hiring talent.
I guess we have to wait until proper talent announcements for the regions but my point is that it seems like a lot of people are getting screwed over, and caster work in Dota looks to be very up and down, so I think it's stupid that there aren't more robust systems in place for people with skill to get reliably hired throughout the year
If PGL hated someone for any dumb reason, and control the DPC for major regions and do majors, then someone who's really good at their job could potentially just not get any work for a whole year. I think it's fair if DPC regions are evenly distributed like last year, which was pretty good with BTS and ESL still working, and then they can have their preferences in hire, but if someone has a monopoly then we might start to lose some of our better casters because of this?
what do you think?
EDIT: sorry I used caster for ephey but I meant it as desk talent, my bad
EDIT 2: guys it doesn't matter if you don't like ephey or gareth, the point is that this could happen eventually to someone you do like, please don't derail the thread with personal opinions on the talent you like/dislike
