I've been a casual player since 2016. I have 1207 hours in the game so far. I did the trip to Sagittarius A and back. I like the combat, not great at it, but I like it. Thargoid War pushed me to unlock some weapons and try the anti-xeno combat, and it's a challenge for me to kill them, so I like the occasional bug kill.
What keeps the game installed, and me coming back (even if I am absent from the game for months at a time), is that I like the galaxy and space. I like spending some time jumping around and scanning a few planets, landind on some.
I don't very much like photos irl either, and usually just savour sights and moments without screenshots mostly. And I often get the urge to fly out into the dark and discover things, but I soon find myself feeling alone and disconnected. The thrill quickly fades. Soon, I am on my way back to the bubble, not even scanning most systems on the way. Then I rack up a few hundred powerplay merits so I can vote next week.
It is the same in most things for me in this game, but exploration and exobio the most. I log in feeling the uege to discover, then get bored. I don't want to quit, I really like this game. But everything is quickly boring on my own. I'm very casual, and my squadron is mostly inactive and loners. And I think it would be a one sided, taxing relationship to expect a squadron to just be there whenever I feel like playing.
What do I do to make this game not feel so tedious, after so little time spent doing what I initially felt passionate about when logging in?
