I am afraid of the sea. More specifically, what could be lurking underneath it. Fish terrify me, let alone whatever leviathans might be swimming around down there. The sea is one big scary unknown. I don’t go on boats. I think I would die of terror.
My friend and I were ready to kill the first boss. I had just built a raft and was excited to try it out. I decided we would sail along the coast and go around to the boss’ location. There was something of a bay in between our cabin and our destination. I figured we could save time by cutting across the ocean. Big fucking mistake.
We lost sunlight and the waves were pitching the raft up and down in the dark. I was starting to get nervous. I looked out at the open ocean and I almost felt like I was there in person. I didn’t expect to feel this way, but I was panicking. I told to myself that I just needed to hold it together and get across. It was dark and I couldn’t see much of anything but that fucking vast unknown.
And then I saw it. The serpent rose to the surface of the water. Circling around and taunting me. Unnerving glowing scales lighting up the dark night as I came to the hopeless realization that we could do absolutely nothing.
I scrambled. I panicked. I was helpless.
It was terrifying. I hated it. But it was so much fun.
