Next week we'll get the first patch of the year. If 2023 is the last year where Gwent is supported, then this first patch will be a pretty good indication of the level of quality the devs will be putting in 2023.
I'd like to hear what you think is most essential to fix to begin the year with a bang.
1-) Personally, I think the most urgent priority would be to fix /nerf the cards that have been dominating the meta for many months, as well as the new cards that are way too strong. Highland warlord, Tyr and Damsel in Distress are the first that come to mind.
2-) Secondly, reviving dead archetypes should definitely be of great importance. I know this takes a lot of time, and they said last year they would focus on buffing/reworking cards that have not seen play in ages. The best example would be the changes given to NR siege, SK self wound and MO vampires. All three were pretty useless before they were reworked. I hope to see this in the many archetypes that are still garbage, like MO insectoids, SK druids/beast alchemy, NR spectres, NG spies/agents, ST movement and SY cutups, who merely serve as support rather than have their own identity. Feels like insanity has more potential.
3-) Lastly, to ensure that Gwent survives, all unused leader abilities should be reworked. Every faction has one leader that barely sees any play. The weakest ones imo are blood money, arachas swarm, uprising, and rage of the sea. The latest reworks to Royal inspiration, imperial formation and toussaintois hospitality make me hopeful at least.
4-) And of course, the power creep festival that has plagued gwent since Price of power needs to stop. The last card drop is yet another reminder that overly broken cards are fun at first, but they quickly make the game redundant because everybody plays the same decks over and over again.
These are my hopes for the 2023 patches. Do you think this is realistic? What do you think should be a priority?
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
