Frustrated with the development pace…or with the communication?

Exactly what it says on the tin. I found myself wondering about some of the recent criticism about the pace of development. As someone in the boat of 'annoyed with the wait but just taking a break from the game,' it has been hard to get my hype back up when all I see is negativity, despite my preexisting feelings.

My mind drifted over to other games that I've enjoyed, be they live service or early access since those are games you'd expect regular updates for. Things like Slime Rancher 2, Destiny 2, Armello and Hades (way back in the day,) FFXIV, etc. One thing that came to mind was very specifically SCHEDULED or otherwise regularly timed update posts. Destiny 2, for instance, every Thursday they have a dev/community post, even if it's small. Talks about bugs they've squashed, some pictures, some idea of what's coming up in the coming week, etc. That's live service though, so weekly might be pushing it too hard. FFXIV does these every month or two, a 2-hour livestream and often it's legitimately just a PowerPoint presentation and a few screenshots. Or Guild Wars 2, they do 'Guild Chat,' I believe, same thing, every few months you get a livestream. Fairly regular.

People on the sub have mentioned that there are folks who know the dev team, or see internal work, and say that the pace has remained very consistent since before launch, which would indicate that this isn't a 'whoaaa take the money and run' situation in the least. I'm inclined to believe it, honestly, until evidence to the contrary exists. I don't fall into the camp of 'well hire more people' or anything, I'm fine with letting them make their mistakes if that's the way they wanna go about it, etc. But the realization about how LITTLE in the way of communication we get actually was a bit of an epiphany. I realized that if we got like, say, a monthly meaty digest of progress, even if it didn't look particularly impressive? It might dispel this illusion of 'they're sitting on their ass' to some. For ME, it would have the bonus effect of keeping the hype up, like microdosing on hype lol So I wanted to throw the take/question out there, hopefully? marked up well. I rarely post TOPICS here. Would this have the same effect on you guys? Or is it a situation where the wait is something that can't actually be compensated for, communication be damned? Or would you be like me, and absolutely dig periodic, REGULAR updates from the devs, even if it was small?

TL:DR would you be less mad if the devs talked at regular intervals about progress? Or would you be mad/fine/etc no matter what the devs did, and your feelings are based purely on time? Or are you totally fine already and don't care if anything changes?
