Bit-sized stories of my Valheim Adventures.
Helhalla 2
It's the following evening. Sackson and Cnut are back on.
I'd just started building a castle, when Cnut decided he wanted to fistfight more Gods.
Having avoided venturing into the Black Forest myself, I was wanting to avoid trolls.
But the guys already had an undisclosed number of ancient seeds to summon the Elder.
I grab the best of what basic bronze gear and foods I can currently muster and follow the naked Santa deep into the forest.
These was night two of playing the game with Sackson, a veteran player, and Cnut, also a vet player with a tendency to self-sabotage, suicide and grind levels. Thus the lack of clothes.
Now common knowledge at this time was to build an underground cave system beneath the alter to keep yourself safe whilst taking on the Elder as his long range was problematic.
For whatever godly reason, we decided to fight above the Altar.
I don't know why we thought this was a good idea.
So we summon the Elder.
But this is Cnut and Sackson here.. remember the undisclosed Seeds..
Yeah.
They summoned another 3 Elders.
3 Thorny ass Tentacle monsters that I can't even do damage on before they're healing with Shamans, and I'm running around dressed like a bright blue tarp playing target practice.
This was madness.
We leveled the whole damn forest.
I'm level 8 or something.. Sackson and Cnut I could only guess were in their 40s.
This was total unprepared chaos and we couldn't just log out and leave them there to run amok for the rest of the players.
Being before the Hearth & Home update wood was scattered in individual logs making it the Ultimate Ninja Course and Stamina burner.
So we fought these guys for around 2-3 in-game days, totally unprepared, not enough arrows or food..
It was a long hard battle of playing Aggro whilst the other two ran around shooting.
(Good for wood collection afterwards though)
I don't know about the other guys, but any skill levels I'd gained got wiped after this from the amount of deaths. The Elder had a pretty cool effect on the environment though.
Eventually the last Elder fell. I think we each went through 300 Arrows
(don't quote me on that as something happened later and I may be confusing the two.)
We found what we needed to place a Gate, and got on the Karve to head back to recover at the Hub.
On the way back, we encountered a Serpent and dragged it onto land.
Having just built a classic moat around my cliché castle, I was keen to see if we could put a Serpent in to guard my moat. Oh we could. And it was glorious.
Sackson named him Sir. Pent. Original.
But even better.
This guy couldnt get back to the lake.
So he happily lived and roared around my Castle in progress for a long time.
I've never had to be more careful of falling off my house..
But oneday, it happened.
I fell into the moat off my wall.
..And we became friends!
Turns out Sir. Pent was a Vegan Serpent all along.
I jumped in an swam around with him, tried standing on his head and riding him around Etc. He loved the company.
But we really wanted to confirm his veganism. Maybe He just liked the colour blue..
So we threw things in to test him..
Deers, pigs..
Sir. Pent was a great.
He made himself right at home offering better security than a ward.
He would eat Greydwarves occasionally though (they're made of plants) and even attacked a troll once.
So I kept building.
I wasn't building small. The idea behind a castle and what I could put in it kept escalating.
It became one of my biggest builds of Valheim on a vanilla server..
To be continued..
