Horrible Player Support

Recently overnight on the 25th of December (last month) my account was stolen. How… I have absolutely no idea because even now I still have access to the email that was associated with my account, and miraculously it wasn’t taken but simply used to change the email associated with my account I think? I’m still not entirely sure how they did it even now but yes I did change the password so whoever had it is now locked out hopefully.

But I made a support ticket the next day when I went to log into the game and was told at the main menu that my account is now “associated with another email” and found out all my stuff is gone and I’m reset to level 1. This is obviously a pretty heart wrenching moment because I actually pre-ordered the game before battle royale even was a thing and played the game roughly almost every day up until about season 7 then took a break up until when Zero Build was introduced into the game. Recently got back into it and was playing almost every free moment I had with my buddies. Even was enjoying the new chapter and was having a fun experience being on every day. But apparently someone wasn’t and they went out of their way to take my account at a horrible time too, I’m sure they choose that time because they expected epic games to take longer to respond due to the fact that they were on a company wide break and the holidays as well.

My only conclusion as to why this happened was essentially because I was target for being an “OG” I had items that were deemed rare by the community like popular things such as the Purple Skull Trooper etc etc.

Main reason I’m posting this here is because I’ve hit a dead end with their support. I made a ticket on the 26th the day after and was finally given a response that was very bot-like on the 30th saying “I'm afraid that you've encountered some issue with your account. May I ask what would you like to do with it?”. Naturally I explained again the issue being my account was stolen and I’d like help recovering it and then the next day I received a response saying they transferred me to a new person who will be assisting me and they said “As per checking, it was successfully restored.”. I was baffled thinking it can’t be that easy and I was right I went to log in and it said my credentials don’t exist. Figures. So I made another response stating simply what I just said and the fact that the person who stole it changed my email, username and password.

Thankfully at the time my account still had my friends added so that we could see my account but that wasn’t gonna last for long cause of how long this tedious process was becoming, every day they took was a day extra this guy has to safeguard my account. He eventually changed the name, and purged my friends list. He had my friends still added and the item shop had some emotes that came out when I didn’t play the game and I wanted them so I gave my buddy $20 and had him gift them to my account and I think this tipped the guy off that the account was active if he didn’t know already because the day my account was stolen I was level 159 and had the Fortnite Crew as well. But since I had clips that my buddies took of me I looked at them and found that my account ID was there. So we looked it up on FortniteTracker.com and found that he privated the account so we can’t see it’s name anymore so now all outside ties we had to my account were now gone. My heart pretty much sank thinking that I’ll never get it back.

So the next day again I received an email stating “After thorough research, I wasn't able to associate you as the owner of this Epic Games account. Given that circumstance as much as I want to process the change you're requesting, my hands are currently tied right now.”. At this point I’m sure you could understand my feelings for being a little livid. I provided my first display name, account email, connected accounts including dates of them being linked, purchase invoices and info, IP addresses of my consoles, and more and was just told this? Honestly a joke, so I sent another email kindly of course despite being extremely frustrated and even sent more information to show that I’m the genuine account holder and hopefully to help excel the recovery process. But apparently today I was sent my last email telling me that the support staff closed my ticket and they want me to rate my experience…

I’ve heard rumors that their support was horrible but I didn’t expect it to be this bad honestly. You would figure an issue like an account being hacked would get you a support staff who would be willing to help fix the issue not respond very bot like and close you out without resolving the issue.

I’m posting this here in hopes that anyone can provide advice as to what to do in this situation… anything would help tbh. If you read this far, thanks… honestly it means a lot cause I’m sure other people whether it be the same issue or not probably have had same or similar experiences with their support or maybe it’s just me and I was dealt the short straw. Maybe this will eventually be seen by a real employee and I’ll receive help or maybe this will become a thread to help other players with the same issue
