How do you know how to pilot your deck (in terms of round commitments)?

So my only previous experience in CCG's comes from Duelyst and Shardbound. Both games have comprehensive battlefield mechanics and General characters who you must destroy to win the match.

Hence for me Gwent is a bit of a departure as there is no way to go face on an opponent but more importantly there is the problem of the round system, whereby you need to win a majority of the 3 rounds in order to win the match.

This leads me to a conundrum. How exactly do you know how your deck should be played? What factors should lead me to conclude to play hard for round 1 and then pass round 2? Should I always try to bleed my opponent's deck or should I conserve my own cards?

I find this to be a problem using my own homebrew decks but particularly when analysing meta decks that I have not played myself, as I feel like I should know how these decks are piloted in order to beat them.

In short, how do I learn the manner in which my deck should be piloted in order to maximise its effectiveness in each round? (If it helps we can use the example of this Deathwish deck I made here: https://www.playgwent.com/en/decks/guides/288992)
