How useful is film study in professional Dota?

Obviously watching your own replays is good. I'm specifically talking about watching your opponents.

In the NFL, coaches and players watch hours of film a day of their opponents to find weaknesses, tells, and possible strategies. I've never heard players or coaches in dota talk in detail about doing this in the DPC (which is the only format with long enough time between matches to fully utilize it).

Imagine if your coach reviewed 10 of the enemy mid's pubs and was able to tell you things such as:
* he's susceptible to surprise lv 6 outplays
* he's too slow to counter enemy itemization
* his farming patterns look like this on this hero, look this other way on this other hero
* he exclusively ganks when he finds early haste, but does not do so with invis

That would be so good, right? Perhaps this is "competitive advantage" so teams don't publicly talk about doing this, but if they aren't it seems to me underutilized.

Pros complain about the long period of time between matches, which is certainly justifiable given the monetary compensation. but it seems to me there is ample opportunity to fill that time with useful match prep tailored to your opponent.
