Hello,
so I am a graphics designer by profession. I got Valheim 3-4 days after it was released. After that I had some fun with it. I played for about 200 hours then just left it there did not even touch it for a year or so. I guess it is the Bronze Age that irks me. Just mining for days on end it gets monotonous really quickly and that prevented me to have multiple playthroughs.
Now let me tell you a bit about graphics design. It's not usually taking a pen and paper and designing something. It actually involves a lot of thinking and concentration to create innovative ideas. So one day a client offered me a project and I worked on it a lot but nothing came to fruition. I gave up and thought okay I will play some games to clear my mind . I called one of my friends to play something with me. He said that there is a new update on Valheim where they added a bunch of new stuff which I should check out. I thought sure I will check it out and since it is the least difficult game to download (600 mb or something) I gave it a go. I decided I will do a new playthrough. Killed the Eikthyr , made a shack to stay and just thought I would collect some copper before the surtling cores because it was so far way from my base I wouldn't have been able to go back and forth . Now here is the interesting part while I was digging for copper I started to think about my graphics design job. The copper digging is so mundane and so not interesting your mind wonders. And that's when it struck me its the perfect ritual. You focus really hard and because its not interesting that focus goes to other things in this case it was my design. I also thought some more ideas regarding the project while I was building as well. I reached the conclusion that this is the best ritual for me to come up with different ideas. The designs i created after that was one of my best works ever. I thought I would share it with fellow vikingr. Skal!
