I deleted Dota 2 today, for good.

Hi, people! Today, I deleted the game named Dota 2. I decided that the game that was providing fun and important for me for 9 years of my life is no longer interesting.

There are many points of why I decided to stop playing Dota:

I played game for fun mostly and ranked score wasn't a big thing for me until it got so daunting I couldn't stop, but ask: "Why are you stilll in 1500 mmr after 9 years of active play, if you got platinum in League litterally in 1 month?". It became so exsausting to play the game alone and most of parts of the game that was community driven are no more because Valve not planning to do anything about it For example the game is in terrible situation of ranked matchmaking not feeling rewarding unlike games like League or even dead-ass HotS not only for ranks but also in cosmetic rewards.

Matter of fact, lore and cosmetics now seem so disinteresting after what we had pre ti7 battle pass. Many recent sets seem like an after thought to fill up the seasonal rewards that of course we have to pay for because they are on limited time offer and some of them are not even that good! I most probably still will watch games of Dota being played, but I won't anymore spend extra penny on a battle passes after horrible nemestice and aghanims lab 2 events. Reward just not there and I am not interested to pay total of 110 dollars and 200 hours of my life just to get an arcana when I could buy it for 30 back in 2016.

Gameplay after many-many-many patches feel the same -ish*. Neutral items feels more like nuesance items rather than optional upgrades. Some heroes are so in a slump they are feel abandoned by devs many years ago. My favourite hero is Doom, that's no secret, I have him on a flare , but even recent changes he still suffers in most of scenarios, yet some heroes get buffed outta butt because "he wasn't picked enough". Terrain recent changes don't make any sense to me sometimes.

After everything I think Dota 2 might share same destiny as Valve's other project "Team Fortress 2". They both have amazing potentials to become games you basicaly only need. Both games completed for Valve some kind of goal, for example TF2 introduced hats and Dota 2 made eSports a very real competive sport, both was with a help of community money and interest. But unlike Dota 2, TF2 seem upon an abondoned love child that just gets hours of play from people who really like the game. Both games are really hard get into but for different reasons. (One works, but good luck not be called a racial slur, and another doesn't work, filled with cheating bots on OFFICIAL SERVERS and also get called a racial slur). I think at some point very soon Valve will also abandon this game and get 3 people to still work on a game just to make sure community-economical meltdown doesn't happen again.

This is all horrible things, but on upside I did met really good people because of this game. I will remember every local LAN-event I attended to. Thanks for everything Icefrog and Valve for amazing time! I look forward what studio has for us next. Hope it's HL3! Kappa
