Please forgive me, but right now I just need to vent. I am beyond frustrated with the game right now and I feel stoopid. I enjoy exploration, but I've run up against the jump range of my Asp X. I asked around about what ship to get for better range, and the advice I received was almost universally "engineer your FSD." The problem with that is I lack the cranial capacity to figure out the engineering system in this game, which is why I've avoided it up to this point. My problem is the materials… I am a potato in combat, so that is not a viable source. I read about Dav's Hope, and that led to me wasting my entire morning on that folly. It took my dumb ass over two hours to even FIND the settlement. Once I did, I zoomed around in the SRV trying to figure out how to pick things up (hint…you have TARGET what your trying to pick up.) After I finally managed to grab a couple of items, my SRV got stuck. Like, STUCK stuck. I couldn't get it to move, and the jump thrusters did nothing. I did the only thing I could think of…I self destructed. There went what little I managed to pick up. So, in anger, I just left. There just so happened to be a fleet carrier in orbit, so I docked there hoping to replace my SRV. Apparently I can't buy another one for that module, so…I guess I sell it and buy a new one? I don't know how that part works. I might just ditch the SRV entirely, it doesn't seem useful to someone without Odyssey anyway. Not to an explorer…all I find are just rocks anyway. It's not like there's anything down there, is there? How would you even know? Drive around the entire planet on the offhand chance that there might be something? So…this is me, officially acknowledging my lack of intellect as a barrier to probably about half of the game. I need to make peace with the fact that I will not be exploring the wispy fringes at the edge of the galaxy, nor will I find exotic flora on alien moons. At this point I'm either going to trade in my Asp for a Type-7 and specialize in Hutton Mugs, or just find an easier game. I wonder if No Man's Sky is more my speed…
