Let me begin by saying that this has actually been improved in the last months, but, unfortunately, does not match beta Gwent: thematic decks where all cards synergise with each other.
There are some nice combo decks, for sure, but the archetypes are half baked, to the point that, sometimes, it feels that cards are more of a cosmetic "excuse" for a particular point exchange. Let me illustrate with an example: what is a mage in this game? Some heal, some deal damage, yes, but many other cards do that too (and, sometimes, even better so…). IMHO, a more meaningful approach would make cards feel unique – mages, for instance, could make spells deal + damage, or reduce their provision cost, dwarves could do something similar to artifacts, idk. The point is that beta gwent made you feel like you were playing a witcher card game, but current gwent is closer to a witcher themed poker.
