I just wanted to share my opinion and maybe hear from you guys too. I'm not as veteran as most of you are in Elite – I only have about 800 hours or so spread several years. But I hated Odyssey and promised I would never buy it.
It was really underwhelming how they released it and I was blinded by how it could've been (oh it could've been so much better, right?)
But this week I decided to give it a try and it has changed my gameplay so much! I feel like I'm "roleplaying" so much more now. I enjoy making breaks from mining (the activity I enjoy the most) and go for a walk in a different station or outpost. I'm enjoying smaller ships so much more now that I can have a sense of scale and the game is another experience for me, at least for now.
I know frontier let us down big time. They could've done something great and, instead, they gave us another thing with 1000s hours grinding mentality. But, as soon as I gave up on my expectations, I actually enjoyed Elite so much more.
