Probably some of the biggest complaints about balance amongst weapons is their ammo types, and more specifically, the availability and price of AP ammo. I feel like the Neverending debate and tweaking BSG does to ammo and its rarity would be easily solved once they finally implement armor plating hit boxes.
The full body armored vests we see would become much more rare and worth their price and weight for the near full protection they add. Whereas, most of us will be running some varient of armor plates that cover different sizes and areas of our vital body areas like the torso. Put on a level 6 plate that covers most of your front chest, can still die to a dude with a pm pistol from behind if you have no plate there. It will be am amazing addition and shake up to the meta. Primarily because running "shit" ammo or high flesh damage low pen ammo will be viable, especially in shotguns and smgs. You simply will spray where you see a gap in their plates and only need one bullet to make it through to kill them. This will also mean long range sniping with cheap high flesh rounds will be viable too. Especially if the guy your sniping is sideways as very few plates cover your armpit and side of your torso.
Anyway, wish it would just get added. It will make nearly all guns and their ammo types viable, make positioning more important, and give more purpose to the heavy weight rarely used full body vests we see like zoboro, because its likely most people will run less ap ammo making an encounter with a suited dude all the more scary and your investment into it worth the armor penalties.
