I've always used my Witcher themed deck to play Gwent and have tried all other decks. Not with the starting decks though but on decks built on draft instead. I craft decks on draft judging from the players I faced on regular rank matches and seasonal events and so far, I have not enjoyed any other decks aside from the Witcher deck. And I'm too stubborn to change decks which I know will plague me in the future as it's not that viable on high ranks. Sure, you can argue that the decks I'm using on draft does not represent the entirety or possibility of it's respective faction. Yes, that is correct but it has given me a glimpsed of the basic synergizes of that particular faction I'm using and facing.
Yes, I'm facing low rank players the same as I but there's little love for Witcher decks. Maybe the devs meant us players to only use few Witcher cards on our respective decks but it would have been better if they balanced it to the point that fully themed Witcher decks can compete with overpowered meta.
With the 132 GGs I sent. I've only seen around 3-5 Witcher decks. It's saddening. This faction is supposed to be heart of it's universe. The story revolves around two characters, destined for each other. Both are witchers (if TW3 Witcher ending is cannon). Then why is there so little love for this themed faction?
There's no scenario for the Witcher faction. The locations are a great compensation but a scenario would have made it better.
The cards' effects only synergizes at it's optimum function with other cards but not so much with its fellow Witcher cards. And if they do, they are underwhelming, making the combo not worth to play. Eg. Erland+Vesemir: Mentor = 12 pts Witcher trio. That's almost 40 provision cost for such underwhelming combo.
Few low provision Witcher cards. With each faction, the low provision Witcher cards are restricted from joining their other low provision Witcher in training. Widen the options please.
Niche, sometimes overpowered effects can't be compensated with low points. Geralt decks are overpowered when used correctly but the trade off is off putting. Sure you can eliminate a 20pt enemy using Igni. But Igni will only provide you 2 pts in return. The enemy can easily catch up the lost 18pt with a faction synergize combo.
Effects are simple, not convoluted. There should be at least 1-2 witchers that could turn into a core function that a deck would revolve around them. When I say difficult to synergize, I meant something like the traveling priestess or cahir. I heard Ciri: Nova was once such card. Most Witchers' effects are very simple and it's annoying. Take for example, Lambert: Pathfinder. 1 pt boost every turn? Really, he's a Witcher and he has the same effect as that fat, female soldier (forgot the name)? The latter has more effects and uses than Pathfinder.
Justice to the lore. I feel there's no justice for the witchers on Gwent. They should, by all means more powerful than any themed faction, second only to the mages. Witcher trio for example. These three can take down more than a dozen monsters and soldiers simultaneously and have fought the Wild Hunt. And Wild Hunts are basically world conquering aliens. However, despite their background, the trio's effects are underwhelming.
Please widen the options by either adding more Witcher cards, balancing their effects and stats or at least make them synergize with each other like how dwarves synergizes with themselves. Come on, the dwarven combo is more fun and powerful than witchers and Geralt can easily whack Zigrin.
Just a newbie wishing the witchers were given more love.
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
