I love this game, but ammo vs armour is just weird. Driving up the prices of the good ammo is really short-sighted without looking at what makes these rounds necessary right now.
Real M855 is super fucking scary to a soldier wearing a plate carrier. The actual plate protects a very small area of your body, and a round or two to the remaining 80% can put you straight down, not only for the engagement, but for the next several months up to and including the rest of your life.
Nobody, but nobody, would run around the way we do in Tarkov just because the enemy's rifle is shooting M855. That shit can still kill you, and when you die you are fuckin dead. Magical plate forcefields are a huge driver of the streamer-centric CoD-style run-and-gun that everyone claims to hate.
I'm aware that an armour overhaul is PlannedTM . According to the stream earlier, it's not in the next update, and if it's not in the next update, turning the screws on supply now does nothing but raise Shroud's SR.
IRL, plates might keep you alive. They do not keep you safe. Tarkov and its economy would be much healthier if that were the case here as well.
