A few months ago it was rumored that People Can Fly (PCF), who worked on STW in it's early stages, might be brought back in to revive the game. While I would love to see STW get new content, get all the bugs fixed, etc. I have zero confidence PCF would be able to do it.
Go check the Outriders sub for all the proof you need. For those unfamiliar with Outriders the launch was a disaster. The servers were down frequently, cross play didn't work as advertised, there were inventory wipes, mods on weapons not working properly and many other issues.
It's been almost two months since the game launched and almost all of the major issues have not been resolved and as is the case with STW every patch seems to bring two bugs for one that is fixed. While there is no concrete evidence of this being the case there is quite a bit of circumstantial evidence that the core issues with STW's code may have been created by PCF.
STW had server issues with disconnects early on and still does. STW had inventory wipes many times. STW has perks that don't work as intended. Outriders has all these issues. It could be purely coincidental that both games, that PCF worked on, have very similar issues or it could be that PCF is not the savior that some hope them to be.
I hadn't played STW in quite a while but my kids decided they wanted to play it again this week so we did. I'd love for the game to be in a better place so I could enjoy it again but I don't see that happening, especially not if PCF is brought in to "fix" the game" so I'll just enjoy playing it with them until they get bored of it again in a week or two.
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
