inconsistent audio (highs/lows fade in and out)

I am experiencing audio that is fading in and out in volume. My in game audio seems to randomly fade in and fade out, getting louder and quiter pretty much randomly, whether i am inside or out, headphones on or off. At first i noticed this on Landmarks stream, and then while i was playing my owns raids the same thing happened- its especially noticeable with the ambient noise, the ambiance will literally start overwhelming my audio.

This is ASIDE from the usual audio issues. I have over 3k hours and know the limitations of this games audio pretty well by now. I am NOT referring to occlusion zones or vertical audio. It seems like the base layer of audio is literally coming in waves, sometimes high and sometimes low but never sitting at a consistent level.

let this be a discussion to see if this is happening to anyone else. kinda sucks too because between the already abysmal audio and lighting in game, this inconsistent audial level is pretty hard to play with.
