I feel that it is highly dependent on what you are doing and what gear it is. But generally is not worth it for anything above a Timmy kit. I almost never get big-ticket items back in insurance, even if i die to AI
Edit: when I'm spending upwards of 30% of the kit cost on insurance, that's millions that could go towards better gear, Instead of buying insurance for 80k I spend it on Comtac 4s and I feel like those make a big difference to my survivability.
Edit2: I get the whole insurance fraud perspective, but I regularly Run things like CT4's and Fast/Wendy with a FS, so I'm not going to drop those for other helmets, same with the armor, if I'm using some nice UHMWPE stuff I'm not trading it for Timmy's ghzel-k for a few extra bones, Ill just leave because I'm probably full/hurt, and want to reset anyway. I brought my stuff to use it.
I also subscribe to the philosophy that if I'm min-maxing loot at all I've been in the raid too long and should just leave, and jump right into another raid with refreshed loot instead of kicking around for another 15 mins. Maybe each run I make slightly less but I'm doing 1.5x the raids this way. So I'm not often in the position of really NEEDING to swap armor.
